Who first celebrated it on twitter? Except for the last question, history has no answers to these important queries facing humanity at lunch. — K Balakumar (@kbalakumar) November 7, 2019 And it rang in me for a while, and made me want to write something in praise of our beloved மாங்காய் இஞ்சி. It took me some time to write, but I could finally manage to. மாயிஞ்சி வஞ்சிக் களிப்பிடைத் தீஞ்சுவையும் இம்மாங்காய் இஞ்சிக் கதுஈ டில. (இது ஒரு விகற்பக் குறள் வெண்பா)

As usual, I tried writing a வெண்பா, on Kamal Haasan's birthday, but could complete only later. கலையிற் சிறந்த கலைமா மணியே மலையா யுயர்ந்த மனமோ ஹினியே எளியோர்க் அயரா துயரமு தீட்டிடும் எங்கமல ஹாசனே வாழ்! இது பல விகற்ப இன்னிசை வெண்பா I had originally written வாடா கமலஹாச னே for the சிந்தடி, the last line, but veeba pointed out that கருவிளங்காய் isn't allowed but avalokitam doesn't include it its rules.

16-October was Crazy Mohan's birth anniversary. The crazy me  wanted to write a வெண்பா for the occasion — I did start, but couldn't finish. I now have. I'm sure he'd've appreciated it and encouraged me, despite this being very simple and average :) க்ரேசி மோகம் ஆக பொழுதெலாம் நித்தம் கதைபேசி சோக நினைவெலாம் பித்தம் தலைக்கேறிப் போக நகையாட தத்தம் மனம்க்ரேசி மோக னிடம்ஓ டிடும். இது ஒரு விகற்ப இன்னிசை வெண்பா

I was talking to a friend yesterday, and Vadivelu's line 'உனக்கு வந்தா ரத்தம், எனக்கு வந்தா தக்காளி சட்னி' came up, and I thought it'd be nice to write a short வெண்பா on this, for such silly things as this are not only fun, but also good practice for the rules. In a few minutes, I came up with தனக்கு உதிரேல் உதிரம் பிரற்கெனில் தக்காளி சட்டினி யாம் Avalokitam too said no objection, with a "இது இரு விகற்பக் குறள் வெண்பா". I immediately shared this with Veeba , the first person I ask for feedback, but he wasn't much impressed. When he suggested that I try to have some எதுகை if not மோனை, I had to admit that I couldn't think any further on this. He tried his hand on it, and just a moment later, he got back with எனக்கது வந்தால் இரத்தம் உனக்கது தக்காளி சட்டினி தான் While mine is more of a mind voice , his is direct. Nonetheless, what's a day gone without a Vadivelu reference!
